Third Grade2018-12-07T19:37:20+00:00

I graduated from Gulf High School in 1977.  I attended Pasco-Hernando Community College for my first two years, getting my A.A. in 1979. I took a year off to work full time, and then transferred to the University of South Florida.  I earned my B.A. in 1981, and then started graduate school.  I received my Master’s degree from USF in 1983.

After graduate school, I worked up in Salem, Virginia at Roanoke College in the Upward Bound program. When that ended, I returned to Florida, where I started volunteering at Genesis, and then became a full time substitute in 1984. I was offered my own Third Grade class in December of 1984.

I am beginning my 35th year at Genesis.  Except for a two-year period, when I taught Middle School Math and Science at Genesis Preparatory School, I have been a Third Grade teacher at Genesis.  I love teaching and spending time with my friends and family!

This week, we will have our annual Holiday Performance!  It will be Thursday, December 13th at Genesis Preparatory School. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Students should be there by 6:15, in holiday attire.

This week, we will continue our work with fractions.  Our new concept this week will be “Probability”. There will be a test on Friday!

We are going to complete our work with verbs.  This week we will be complete our “realistic fiction” stories in English!  We have some very creative writers in Third Grade!  Students will have an opportunity to “free write” a holiday composition.

We will be reading The Cherokee: Gold and Tears this week. Reading quizzes will be handed out on Wednesday, and may be completed at home because they are open book.  They are due on Thursday.  Our Vocabulary this week will be included on the Reading quiz again this week.

Spelling tests will be handed out on Monday. The test will take place on Friday, December 14th.

In Science, we have started our “Plants and Animals” unit. We’ve examined pollen under our microscope, and this week, we will learn about animal life cycles.

We are beginning our second History book!  We will be learning about the founding of the 13 Original Colonies!
