THIS WEEK IN 5TH GRADE
Wow! What a busy week we had! We completed our DAR essays, posters, and stamps. They came out great! We have such a creative class! We also worked on our “Turkey in Disguise” project. The students sure sent their turkeys on some wild adventures. They are sure to be the talk of the feast! Next week we have a short week. We will do a lot of hands on activities to reinforce what we have been learning this school year.
On Tuesday, we will come together to celebrate Thanksgiving with our Genesis Family. Our class has been asked to provide rolls and apple pies for the feast. Each student has been asked to bring in one bag of rolls and one apple pie. I would appreciate if you could send in your contribution on Monday, so I can fill in where needed. If you have any questions, please let me know. Tuesday is also a noon dismissal day. Students will be able to leave after the feast. Aftercare is available for those who need it. If your child will be staying a full day, please be sure to send them in with an afternoon snack. They tend to get a little hungry in the afternoon.
Adding and subtracting money, learning about ordinal numbers, and finding the missing addends. Please encourage your child to practice multiplication facts nightly.
“Queen of the Track,” with an assessment scheduled for Thursday, August 30th. It’s important that students read the story as assigned so that they will be ready for the assessment.
Lesson 2. Spelling lists will be sent home on Monday and nightly spelling homework will be assigned. Assessment is scheduled for Friday.
Lesson 2. Words are given to students on Monday and are defined in class. Students should study words nightly in order to be prepared for the Friday assessment.
Unit 1: sentence structure. An assessment will be scheduled for the end of the unit and communicated in your child’s planner.
This week, we are exploring plants and worms.
We are examining the communities in which we live, including home, school, and city.
