We sure had a busy week!  We spent a lot of time working on our projects for George Washing Day.  We are ready to show everyone all of the great things we have learned about our Presidents!  A few of our students have mastered the order of all 45 presidents!  Several others are practicing daily, and they will soon be right behind them!  It is so great to see just how excited they are about this year’s George Washington Day Celebration!  All students have been randomly assigned one of the 45 presidents.  On February 22nd, they will need to dress as their president for our George Washington Day celebration.  Since all of our presidents have been wen, students will need to wear suits, black dress pants and a white shirt.  Ties and jackets are optional.  Please speak to your child about his/her president and the time period that they served.  Some of them were during the Revolution and their attire should be less modern.  On Friday, February 22nd, we will step into character as our country’s presidents.  If you have any questions regarding what your child needs please be sure to let me know.  I do have some accessories to share if anyone needs help finding costumes.  The festivities begin on Friday directly after the morning news.  All parents are invited to attend.  Great news!  Our class will be on ONN on George Washington Day as well!  We hope to see you there!

On Thursday, we will celebrate Valentine’s Day.  A sign-up sheet was posted on the classroom door.  We have 20 students in our classroom.  Please be sure to include everyone if you are sending in Valentine’s with your child.  Our party will be at 1:45 PM.

This week we will begin Unit 19 in Spelling.  A spelling list will go home on Monday.  Spelling homework is due on Thursday.  The assessment is scheduled for Friday, February 15th.

In Vocabulary we will begin Unit 19.  The assessment is scheduled for Friday, February 15th.

In Reading, we will read “The Mystery of Washington Park”.  The assessment is scheduled for Thursday, February 14th.

In Math, we will have an assessment on Tuesday, February 12th.  A review will be sent home on Monday.

We will also be working in our practice booklets for the SATs.  We will do a few sections a week leading up to the assessment.  I will send the workbook home the week prior to the test so that you can review it with your child.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please remember that reading logs are due at the start of each week.  They will be sent home in the homework folder at the end of each week. Students are to complete the log each night.  At the end of the week, the log should be signed by a parent, and it should be returned to school along with their Friday folder.  Please encourage your child to complete these logs nightly.
