A DAY IN THE LIFE AT GENESIS ELEMENTARY

The Genesis Elementary campus opens at 7:30 am, when our before school program opens for students whose parents need to get to work before classes begin. Parents sign before care students in at our preschool building from 7:30 am to 8:00 am, where they are supervised by teachers. Students arriving after 8:00 am report to the elementary playground.

From 8:30 to 8:55 am, a staff member supervises Genesis Elementary drop off. Safety Patrol members help students in and out of the car to keep the line moving and everyone safe, as well as provide service to our Genesis community. By 8:45 am, students report to their classrooms to get ready for their day.

At 9am, class begins. At that time, classroom doors will be locked and the gates will be secured to ensure our community’s safety.

Classes at Genesis Elementary focus on instruction on core academic subjects, based on our challenging and advanced age-appropriate curriculum. Reading, language arts (including instruction in cursive handwriting!), math, social studies and history, and science. In addition to these core academic subjects, students participate in enrichment classes, which gives them exposure to and experience in Spanish, music, physical education, art, technology, and library skills.

Genesis Elementary is certainly not an all work and no play campus! We believe in the power of sunshine, fresh air, and exercise to improve concentration. Students get a snack and recess break in the morning. Every student receives a one-hour break in the middle of the day, with one half for lunch and one half for recess.  Students can order catered, hot lunches each week from local restaurants like Havana Dreamers, Chick-fil-A, and Marco’s Pizza.

Early grades (K-2) are dismissed at 3:00pm while older elementary students are dismissed at 3:15pm. Children are carefully supervised until an approved caregiver picks them up from our car loop.

After school care is provided for those who need it from 3:15pm to 6:00pm. Care includes the Kids’ Clubhouse, which offers several after school club options (for a nominal cost) between 3:15 and 4:15pm. Club instructors come from our faculty as well as from trusted community organizations. After school extended care continues between 4:30pm and 6:00pm.
