February is when we have our annual George Washington Day. George Washington Day is a big deal here at Genesis. 5th grade begins by helping build our recreation of the Yorktown encampment.

Kindergarten prepares by making “authentic” wigs like those worn in the Revolutionary Period. 1st Grade presents us with information about the times. 2nd grade teaches us about how they used code in the Revolutionary Army. 3rd and 4th Grade demonstrate dances from the period by performing the Virginia Reel and Cumberland Squares. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade researched and became all the presidents of the United States of America.

We always end George Washington Day by having George’s favorite desserts of cherry and apple pie. If you missed it, maybe we can see you next year!
