Dear Parents,

Welcome to Pre K I and the 2010-2011 school year. This will be a busy and exciting year. We’ll be joined this year by Ms. Robin who will be the afternoon teacher while I teach Spanish. Our curriculum will be based on a letter of the week. Most of our activities, art, music, science, and cooking, will center around this letter. We will also emphasize numbers, colors, shapes, holidays, and character education.

Please send a complete change of clothes, including socks and label everything with you child’s name. You will NOT need to send an art smock. You may send a king size pillowcase for the nap mat (no pillows, please) and a small blanket no bigger than 30x40. Each Friday the nap items will be sent home to be cleaned and returned on Monday along with the Friday Folder.

Each Friday we will have Show-and-Tell which will consist of an item that fits in the cubby and starts with the letter of the week. One day a week we will have “Book Sharing”. Each week a child will be chosen to bring in a book to share with the class (a short book, please). Even though the children can’t actually read, with practice, they will be able to tell the story or “read” the pictures. This will be a great language experience.

Please remember that hot lunch does not include a drink so be sure to send your child a drink for lunch. (NO SIPPY CUPS, PLEASE)

If you have any questions or problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am here daily from 7:30 to 12:30 or you can e-mail me at ccarpenter@genesiselementary.com  It will be a pleasure helping your child learn and grow.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Carpenter

Ms. Robin
