In the recent
Whataburger Holiday Card Contest, one of our fifth grade students won first
place at the National Level, and we also had a regional runner-up and an
honorable mention.
Our
Genesis Jumpers raised almost $4,000 for The American Heart Association - just
by jumping rope!
Congratulations to
four GPS students who will continue on to the State Science Fair in Orlando. We
also had several local-level winners, including First Place in Botany and
Medicine/Health, Second Place in Zoology, Physics, Environmental Science, and
Behavioral/Social Sciences, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Award, the Math
Award, and the Zephyrhills Crystal Springs Award.
In
honor of Arbor Day, Fourth Grade visited a local park to plant several new trees
and perform a play called The Evergreens.

One hundred percent
of our GPS graduates are accepted to and attend college or university.
Five Upper School
students are participating in Youth Leadership Pasco this year.
Twenty percent of
our GPS graduates receive full scholarships; eighty percent receive partial
scholarships.
GPS Interact and
National Honor Society has an on-going collection of non-perishable foods, paper
goods, and toiletries for the Salvation Army.
Twenty-three Upper
School students took active roles in Teen Court.
Scuba diving is now
an integral part of our Marine Science classes.
GPS has four
Advanced Placement Scholars and three Commended Merit Scholars.

('09) and Nikki Iannaccone ('09) have been selected to be U.S. Congressional
Pages.
PreKII
collected 100 cans of non-perishable food to celebrate the 100th day of school
and donated them to the Women's Abuse Shelter.
The Sixth Grade
entered the county-wide 9/11 Memorial Art Contest in Sims Park.

With the assistance of The Gap at Gulfview Square Mall, we donated over $28,000 to Hurricane Katrina
relief funds.
Chelsea Bower ('11)
entered her papier-maché gazelle in Pasco County's
Art in the Park and won one of nine awards given.
Congratulations
to Chelsea Bower, Toniann DeSousa, Steven Raphael, Ian Renke, and Natalie Smith
(all '11). They were chosen for the Duke University Talent Identification
Program (TIP), which recognizes students who ranked in the S.A.T.'s 95th
percentile or above.
