The Week of September 6th, - September 10th, 2010
The class completed their first Science assessment, and I am so proud of the results! This week’s discussion in Social Studies will revolve around Florida’s diverse population. We will also talk about the proper way to take care of our beautiful state. Protecting Florida’s unique wildlife is critical. In English, we’re really examining the bare bones of predicates. We are going to review complete predicates and hunt down the simple predicate. Chasing down run-on sentences is our next goal. We’ll command them to slow down with periods and capitalizations. In Math, money is looming into view. Let’s find the relationship between decimals and money. We’ll also be counting money and reviewing previous lessons to keep our memories fresh. Our comprehension story of the week is Sarah Plain and Tall. Remember, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 6th. Have a wonderful Labor Day! If you have any questions, please email me at: mhauser@Genesiselementary.com Upcoming Tests/Quizzes: Reading: “Sarah Plain and Tall” Friday, September 10th, 2010 Spelling: Wordlist # 3….Friday, September 10th, 2010 Reading Logs: Please remember that Reading Logs count toward the Reading Comprehension grade on the report card and are due (signed by parent) on the first day of the school week! Students must read for 20 minutes each night. Vocabulary: Remember to STUDY all the definitions including the SYNONYMS and ANTONYMS. Homework: The Week of September 6th, - September 10th, 2010
