The Week of January 30—February 3, 2012 

Upcoming Events:  This Tuesday, January 31^st, we will be traveling to Genesis Preparatory School for a presentation on Benjamin Franklin!  If you can drive, please let me know! 

Research Project packets were distributed in the January 27^th Friday Folder.  Please go over this packet with your child, sign in the place indicated, and return the packet to school on Monday, January 30^th.  Your child should have this packet in school each day.  We will be setting aside time to complete the note cards in class, but your child is also welcome to conduct research outside of school. 

Also included in the January 27^th Friday Folder is an information and survey letter regarding our overnight field trip to Busch Gardens!  Please read over the information and return this letter with your response marked by Monday, January 30^th.  We appreciate your cooperation! 

It is time to schedule mid-year conferences! To schedule a conference, please contact me at school and we will set up a meeting at your convenience. 

This week, we will continue division facts.  The good news is that once you have learned your multiplication facts, it makes learning division facts much easier!  Please continue to practice at home.  Timed tests will continue twice a week, with division fact timed tests beginning Friday.  In English, we will continue our unit on adjectives and adverbs.  In Science, we are continuing our chapter on weather patterns and the water cycle.  In History, we are continuing to learn about European exploration.

Reading Logs:  Please remember that Reading Logs count toward the Reading Comprehension grade on the report card and are due (signed by parent) on the first day of the school week!  Students must read for 20 minutes each night.
