Mrs. Lees’ Spectacular Second Grade August 27, 2010
Wow, I cannot believe that we have already finished our first week of school! This week has been incredible. All of the second graders fell right back into the swing of things, as if they had never left. By day two, my students walked right in our room, returned their homework folders to the proper place and began their morning work. I was so proud and impressed! I’m glad to see that everyone is getting settled into the second grade routine and working well.
Although the students are off to a great start, I want to emphasize and clarify a few areas of concern.
ASSIGNMENT BOOK: Each day your child will write the homework in the assignment notebook. It needs your signature daily so I know that you have seen it.
SPELLING SENTENCES: One of the weekly assignments will be to write sentences using the spelling words. The minimum length of each sentence is seven words. Each sentence will be graded for correct capitalization and punctuation, along with neatness and correct spelling. Please make sure your child has underlined their spelling words.
MATH: Please be sure that your child knows the addition and subtraction facts. If your child is still counting, please have him/her use flashcards to review until he/she knows the answers quickly. If your child does not have flashcards I will gladly provide them for you.
If I have not said this enough already, please feel free to speak to me about anything! I enjoy having a great relationship with my parents and value the importance of communication. You can email me anytime at slees@genesiselementary.com. I hope you all enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lees
